Industrial Photography Meetup

Sunday 20 July
Brunswick Pl, North Docks - 10am - 2 Hours
Valentina Passerini
Industrial photography is a photographic niche that perfectly fits with the history of the city of Liverpool and with its landscape. In this meetup, I will show the participants how to find interesting views and compositions whilst immersed in the landscape of the North dockswith industrial photography you can use buildings and other man-made structures in the same way other photographers use trees and rolling hills in landscape photography. Wind farms, harbours, cement works, power stations, quarries, pylons and building sites are just a few of the industrial landscapes you can photograph. The Liverpool docks are the perfect setting for this kind of photography meetup. We will be starting with an overview of landscape photography technique, how to decide what to take a picture of and how to compose shots, we will then move into settings and more technical challenges to get an idea of when the camera behaves best for landscapes.

Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

As such, it can be used for a variety of styles, from landscape and street photography to portrait and product photography. In this meetup, we’ll review the basic camera settings. We’ll then cover some of the advantages of shooting with a prime lens, and some basic techniques to using the 50mm lens. Good location for subject (if extremely windy!). Presenter/instructor approachable and knowledgeable - and started/finished on time. Only issue for me was limited learning (given my experience) - not the fault of presenter who did have some suggestions on different shots to try to capture.

Had a drive over to take photos of the sunset with my fianc? Amanda, it had been a beautiful day we were expecting a lovely sunset, and we weren't disappointed. Crosby beach is particularly poignant for myself as my dad would spend hours there as a lad, he sadly passed away 4 years ago, so to me it's a special place, and always will be.

The photo was taken on the shore of Lake Ontario at Woodbine Beach Park. Whenever you take a photo of a sunrise or sunset, it is difficult to predict how nature will show you. Sometimes expectations are not met, but sometimes you receive a modest but magnificent gift. There was a small puddle on the shore of the lake from a recent rain and it was in it that the miracle of the sunrise appeared.
